Ways of the world...
Answer me this...
Why is it when I am outside pushing a mower, does the neighbor to my left with a rider mower held together with bungee cords come over to help while the neighbor to my right with a commercial mower sits on the mower at the base of my driveway talking on his cellphone?
Why?

Well Duh...
You know those medicine commercials that are just ridiculous? Well, this isn't about the medication itself per say or about the strangeness of the commercial... This is about new phrasing of the legal talk at the end of the commercial.
Today I actually heard a commercial state "If you are allergic to this medication, don't take it."
All I have to say is "Duh." How stupid are people?

Happily re-posting a graphic from a favorite blog- WhatTheDuck.net
It's been one of those days... nay... one of those weeks so far that make you just look back and, well, hang your head and sigh.
It's gone from trying to push my productivity at work to trying to make it so that I have enough time for everything. It seems like today it has hit the cusp where I'm on the verge of not having nearly enough time and having to push things off till the next day. Good thing it's Thursday and not Friday because I even forgot to post my time sheet, one of the major reasons I'm working (pay...)
On the brighter note, tomorrow's Friday after all...

Ready?
Of course... the day before I leave on Vacay I end up needing to stay at work for an extra hour in order to get all the "ducks" in a row... but now I'm home with all of- oh, lets say- "no" packing done. And I leave at 7:30 tomorrow morning.
But as I sit and wait for the dryer to finish, I've stumbled across a great product site:
http://www.worldwidefred.com/
Specifically:
http://www.worldwidefred.com/ginandtitonic.htm
http://www.worldwidefred.com/iceinvaders.htm
plus what I would assume would be many many more amazing items if my interweb didn't just c^@p out...

Right foot...
Here in lies the age old question (okay- not age old... simply as old as blogs are): How to most efficiently and effectively begin a new blog. After searching my mind over and over again- yes, even behind all those cobwebs and such, I have determined that the best way is this: I would go and retrieve a few posts from years past and other blogs that would represent what one might find when reading this blog.
And there you have it... that's what comes next:
Post 1a: Instant Lunch....
So about this whole "instant lunch" soup thing. It isn't really instant- you have to boil the water first and then pour it in the cup and wait 3-5 minutes until the noodles are soft. Heck in that amount of time I could have made a sandwich. Or even a pot of soup from a can- the non-dehydrated kind. I don't get it. Plus- the box says that its chicken flavored. What exactally does that mean? I mean- when you eat something new- aren't you always tempted to say "gee- this tastes like chicken"? Does that mean that everything is chicken flavored? What if you wanted to eat this product at some time other than noon-ish or for some meal other than lunch? Is that allowed? Can you do that? I feel like I have just broken some un-written law by eating this food at 11:30pm. I mean- it technically wasn't lunch or anything. But considering that my lunch today consisted of a chocolate tootsie pop before my Anatomy exam at 1:00pm, whatever the "instant lunch" that I just ate is classified as- I'd say that its a step in the right direction. Even if it is the wrong meal.
Post 1b: Telemarketers make me laugh
Now for another edition of random stupid stuff that has made me laugh. *disclamer: This post may not actually make you laugh and I do not ensure your happiness based on the reading of this blog- but enjoy it if you will*
So despite my feeling relatively lousy tonight due to a serious case of strep throat, I was in a pretty good mood that only proved to get better with one little phone call. Now, with most chicks- you would be thinking to yourself, "Now she's gonna tell me some sappy story about the love of her life calling or something mushy like that". And that would be where you go wrong. While I wish that I could recant a story of such romantic caliber(even if sickeningly sweet and mushy), this is not such a story.
The phone call was brief and went something like this:
"Hello?"
"Hi, my name is Vanessa and I'm calling from the Atlantic Research and Development Team. We are conducting a survey on video games and video game systems. Would you mind answering a few questions tonight?"
"Sure."
"Do you or anyone in your family own a video game system or hand held video game?"
"No."
"........ Thank you."

Now to me, that seems like one hell of an effective survey!
Post 1c: About that...
Funny Story:
I went to check my mail today and found 2 things. A ad for a pizza place and a postcard addressed to the guy who used to live at what is now my house.
In my mind, I thought to write please forward and put the post card back in the box. But after a quick debate on if I should have pizza for dinner or not, realized that it was a postcard from a local band- and I couldn't just let that get away.
So I went inside and looked Green Inside up (cause the website is right on the nifty-difty postcard) and took a listen. Well, as things turned out, I liked it-- and so here I am. The newest fan of Green Inside- with possibly the oddest story ever.
Things like this don't just happen every day... well maybe they do- but not to me. Its not too often that I get mail that isn't either junk or a bill.
So- moral of this story: If you have a band and you want me to listen to it, send me a postcard... wait thats a crappy moral... oh well.
